Serious The Hypocrisy Of Singaporeans Against The Usage Of Cheap Labor

I am aware that there is another thread on the Cambodian maids. I wanted to start a separate thread instead.

How ironic, on one hand Singapore's local populace decry the government's mass import of "cheap" foreign workers to displace them from their jobs, yet on the other they absolutely love their "cheap" maids and won't bat an eyelid when ordering them to dangerously reach out to clean the outside of their house windows.



In several advanced countries, domestic help of any form is expensive, think $10 - $20 PER HOUR, more if it involves professionals / certified technicians. That is why most people would rather DIY and this is ON TOP of their work schedules, taking care of children, remembering to pay bills etc. And no, grandparents do not like to be burdened with running after their grandchildren daily. As if they haven't had enough with one generation, "we'd like to have our well-deserved freedom, thank you very much".
