SINGAPORE - President Tony Tan Keng Yam presided at the swearing-in of Justice V K Rajah as Singapore's 8th Attorney-General yesterday afternoon.
Justice Rajah, 57, graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1982, and worked for law firm Rajah & Tann. In 1997, he was appointed a Senior Counsel and in 2007, he was appointed a Judge of Appeal.
He takes over as Attorney-General from Mr Steven Chong, who returns to the Supreme Court.
Justice Rajah was also appointed to the Presidential Council on Minority Rights for a three-year term. The 17-member council reports on matters, including Bills or other legislation, that disadvantage any particular racial or religious group.
