Thanks for your highlight. Yes it should be "cost of living".

The cost of living in JB is getting higher partly due to its close distance to s'pore and could be due to the increase in salary of the workers in JB.

Notice that singapore is getting as a more expensive city to live in due to the rise in property prices over the past few years and the recent strong singapore dollar and also the tight labour markets.

Too many car ownership in singapore partly affect the cost of the COE to increase substantially. Owning a car in spore is really expensive as compare to own one in msia due to :
1) Need to pay for COE 50+ K to 60+ k
2) Higher car sales tax
3) Higher petrol price. Many sporean came to JB to pump petrol.
4) Higher maintenance and servcing fee. Many sporean came to JB to service car.
5) Higher road tax.
6) Higher insurance fee per annum.
7) Higher parking fee. Msia parking fee cheaper and in some area can park for free e.g. park in the taman outside residential area.
Therefore think twice before owning a car in s'pore.

Since there is a high inflation reported recently of 4.5% instead of the norm of 3% in singapore, it will cause the currency to appreciate further. The price of food and transportation costs in singapore will also be affected.
