That's true only if you are going to LuoHu. That's also provided that there is no traffic jam / human jam at the border between HK and Shenzhen.
If you are going to NanShan or BaoAn, still SZ airport is nearer.
Futian is somewhere in between.
Furthermore, if you land at night (after 1030pm), it could be a big hassle to get to Shenzhen from HK. The limo service which takes you directly across the border to the hotel doorstep ends sometime around 11pm. So you can only get to the border and then lug your suitcase and go across.
