Cosmo karaoke club
Last night spend some time in a local karaoke place on Petchaburi, on the right as you walk from Ratchatewi BTS towards Pantip. It's one of the only two "hanging flowers joints" that I've found in central Bangkok (the other one is just after the boy gogos at Patpong in the same soi). Decor dingy and home-made, little stage at one end, customers sit at tables, can order food. Gals come up to sing one by one or in groups of up to 4. Wearing slutty evening gown type costume.
One gal got 1000 baht around her neck, but most have 200 or 300. Not everyone gets. Standard of gals not too bad, though they look a bit wan and pasty.
I don't know the conventions of these places, so I thought I'd ask for some background to compare with what the papasan tells me if I ask. Anyone know what kind of rates and action to expect? If a gal is getting 1000 baht just to sing for a minute I don't think I want to compete. Customers there mostly local uncles, it seemed to me.
One gal had a charming touch to her outfit .. white pleated short skirt, with some words brutally handlettered in thick black strokes: F-U-C-K-M-E.
