I know I really shouldn't be doing this ... considering it's actually the wee hours of CNY ... especially after I've just completed my prayers.
But I can't help myself ... coz you're just too much of a classic demonstration of the hokkien saying: "mouth talk balls shiok". A certain Mr Chee comes to mind ...
Let's consider your claim of "even if draw 1 match ... would be goodbye to CL" ...
The table now reads ...
1) Arsenal: 60 points from 25 games played
2) Scums: 58 points from 25 games played
3) Chelsea: 54 points from 25 games played
4) Everton: 44 points from 25 games played
5) Liverpool: 43 points from 24 games played
6) Aston Villa: 41 points from 25 games played
7) Man City: 41 points from 25 games played
If LFC draw just 1 more league game while winning all other remaining league games, then LFC would have amassed 83 points by season end.
If Everton is not the team in THAT drawn game, even if they win all their remaining games ... they would still have amassed only another 36 points (after losing to LFC), meaning their total points would only be 80!!
If Everton happen to be the team in THAT drawn game, even if they win all their remaining games ... they would then amassed only another 37 points, meaning their total points would only be 81!!
Whether it's Aston Villa or Man City ...
If either is not the team in THAT drawn game, even if they win all their remaining games ... they would still only amass a total of 77 points!!
If ether happen to be the team in THAT drawn game, even if they win all their remaining games ... they would still only amass a total of 78 points!!
Pray tell ... under the circumstances stated above, which of the 4 teams is gonna be placed 4th in the league & pocket that last CL slot??
Take a moment to digest the following fact for the last 4 seasons, regarding the 4th-placed teams ...
06/07: Arsenal = 68 points
05/06: Arsenal = 67 points
04/05: Everton = 61 points
03/04: Liverpool = 60 points
Compare this to the current situation that there are 4 other clubs (besides Arsenal, Scums & Chelsea) capable of ending the season with more than 70 points.
Hope you now realise that the level of competition has risen substantially this season ... in other words, it is not a case of LFC doing (exceptionally) bad BUT a case of other clubs having improved as well.
If you wanna argue that LFC should be placed higher becoz of the big money spent to procure a better squad, then let me gently remind you that:
1) despite spending lots this season, LFC is NOT the biggest nor even 2nd biggest spenders this season!!
2) as of right now, there is another bigger spending club that is much further behind in the league table ... to be specific, 14 points behind while having played 1 game more than LFC!!
Still not convinced? Then consider this other fact for the last 4 seasons, regarding LFC's final league positions ...
06/07: 3rd with 68 points
05/06: 3rd with 82 points
04/05: 5th with 58 points
03/04: 4th with 60 points
In your so-called "crisis" season ... if LFC win all & draw 1 of their remaining matches, they would still have closed the season with 83 points - thereby logging their best league performance in the last 5 years!!
Anyways, IMHO ... since the competition is so tight this season, remaining games between these top 7 teams will remain very close, with results possibly swinging either ways based on a stroke of genius or mistake.
In other words, it means LFC may well drop another 5-6 points in their remaining games & still squeeze into CL quaification for next season.
On the other hand, should LFC win ALL their remaining 14 games ... there is even a possibility that LFC could win automatic CL qualification, depening on whether clubs like Everton, Aston Villa & Man City can win all their own remaining league games, less the ones against LFC.
HOWEVER ... positive as I am by nature, I'm also of the opinion that it'd be another miracle (no lesser in magnitude to that glorious night in Istanbul) if LFC were to win the premier league with 13 games left to play but 14 points off the pace.
Nope, I'm just gonna keep my fingers crossed that we just hafta wait one more season.

Sure, trash first then sayang later ... if that's your way of being "behind LFC all the way", I think your support will not be missed anyways. So, keep up your "good work".
