Ah Lim called Giselle and told her that his design and quote was ready. She told him to email or text her the details but he refused. He said he needed to meet up in order to explain his mock up and quote to her.

She rolled her eyes but agreed to his request to meet.


2pm

We were at our office. After how he had stared at her yesterday, she decided to throw the "professional look" out of the window. Her dressing today was just a plain T-shirt and a pair of shorts this time. Ah Lim looked disappointed when he saw her.

After going through all the items in the quote, Giselle asked him for some discount. He refused to budge even 1% and I decided that it was time for me to step me.

Me: eh, Ah Lim, in the past you also gave me a 5% discount, why are you refusing to give us any now?

Ah Lim: bo bian the price of raw materials have gone up.... and don't forget that I'm not using those cheap stuff.. the sofa, the coffee table, the desk and even the hinges and the mechanism for the cabinets....everything are from Europe... He looked at her and turned back to me before shaking his head.

Ah Lim: tch... you want discount and still wear so casually to see me.... like that got give me face meh?.......

I knew what he meant and was about to reply when she put her hand on my arm and told him that we would consider his offer.




After we left his place, she called the other 2 contractors that we went to but they were not ready to give us their quotations yet.

We went to have our lunch and visited another mall before we had dinner.



That night, once again, I didn't want to have sex and she was surprised.

Giselle: I thought guys will always want to have sex?.... unless you are getting bored with me already?

Me: no.... definitely no... it's just that I needed more rest.....

She accepted my explanation and left it at that.

When we went to bed, I realized that she did not visit Shane today.

The other 2 contractors called her. Their mock up designs and quotes were ready and just like Ah Lim, they required us to be at their office for the discussion.

She had complained about Ah Lim yesterday because he wanted us to be at his office. She had the impression that he just wanted to ogle at her but after these 2 other contractors also required us to be at their office, she understood that it was a standard practice in their industry




2pm

Since today was a Saturday and we were not supposed to meet Ah Lim, she was wearing something sexier and was showing off more skin. It was a sky blue spagehetti strap mini dress that ended 2 inches above her mid-thighs and had a low neckline which showed off a generous amount of her boobs.

By the time we left the 2nd contractor office, Giselle told me that she didn't like either of their designs even though they were 30% cheaper than Ah Lim. She mentioned that they didn't understand what she wanted, such as having an inconspicuous place where she can hide the safe box.

Me: so do you still want to go to some other contractors?

Giselle: that looks like the case....

Me: I see.... but we need to fly out to Cambodia middle of next week.... I'm not sure if there's enough time.... I don't want to cause any delay to our first customer... it's inauspicious.... maybe I'll go on my own while you resolve the reno issues....

As my business associate had asked me to help him set up an office in Cambodia, I had informed Giselle that we needed to fly there soon. She didn't need to go but I wanted to introduce her to some people there so as to help her gain some experiences overseas.

Giselle: hmm...

She looked thoughtful but I already had a plan.




Me: dear, let's not think about this now.... I'll bring you somewhere to relax first....

She didn't know what my plan was and agreed.



3pm

She frowned.

Giselle: do we need to leave in the middle of the week?

Me: yes... my contact will be away from Phnom Penh after that and he will only be back the following week.... so if I miss to meet him, I would delay our customer....

Giselle: hmm.... I see...

She was deep in thoughts and I could sense that she wanted to travel with me so that she could gain some experience with the overseas companies.

me: why not just go ahead with Ah Lim's quote? I'm ok to pay the price...

Giselle: the 30% is a 5 digits sum and I am unwilling to pay it... if I can just get him to negotiate the price but he is unwilling to...

me: har? since when he said that he is unwilling to negotiate the price?

Giselle: yesterday at his office... did you forget?

Me: no.... that's not what I interpret... when he said: "you want discount and still wear so casually to see me"... he was looking at you.... I guess that he was telling you that he didn't like how you were dressed yesterday and that's why he didn't want to negotiate....


She blinked in surprise.

Giselle: oh... I didn't interpret it as that... but now that you said it, I understand it now... tsk...

I waited a short moment to let her realization sink in.

Me: ok... since you don't want me to pay the extra 30%, then there's only 2 ways.... you can continue to look for other contractors on your own while I am away or you can convince Ah Lim to lower his price and we can award him the contract and go Cambodia together.....

She was contemplating what I had just said. I had placed everything on the table and left it to her to make the decision.



After drinking another half a mug of beer, she finally spoke.

Giselle: dear, what do you think he really wants?...

Me: Seriously, I don't know... but the way he was ogling after you, it's something to do with you....

She finished the remainder of her mug

Giselle: aren't you angry at the way he was ogling at me?

I pretended to look surprise

Me: why will I be angry?

The waiter came over and broke our mood. She ordered a new mug of beer and when he left, I spoke.

Me: anyway, back to the renovation, so which is your choice?

She did not reply immediately. Only after the waiter brought her beer and she took a big gulp before she answered my question.
