Is there any special things to do during the festival and do the girls go to work? I recall last time i went in May and was told alot of them go to temples instead of work or something although i dont speak thai so not 100% sure.

Any advise would be amazing =D
Chionging activites will be affected as a lot (as mention in the thread already) of people leave BKK to go visit family for the duration of Songkran.

Advantage is that at no other time of the year the roads in BKK will be this quiet. This will last for about 5 days.

In Pattaya the festivities will be even longer, from the 10th until 19th. In Bangkok it will be from 13th to 16th. The first 2 days is where you can really experience the water "fights" every where in the streets.

In the (in)famous soi Cowboy and Nana you can experience this, as well as do some chionging activities.

Many business shutdown during Songkran but the big shops, most shopping malls and restaurants stay open. So as a visitor from that perspective it will not affect you too much, just have to be aware that you can get wet.

In summary you can do your chionging activities and there are always FL girls available during Songkran.
