It is probably difficult to check if the software is installed to ur Hp because the darn software is good and stays hidden. In the newer versions, the tell tale signs of SMS diversion (like the little icon which indicates SMS activity) is no longer visible.
So how can u tell? Easy, by observing behaviour. The software, once installed, to the HP monitors all SMS traffic activity. Hence the moment the HP receives any SMS, it automatically will forward a copy to another designated HP (any normal GSM HP which accepts SMS). Conversely, the moment an SMS message is written, a copy is also forwarded to the HP. This means that the user target HP (where the software is installed) may not have even open and read his/her SMS (she wld probably just see the "U have 1 new message" display), but the SMS wld already have been forwarded. Hence, the phenomena will be that, if your HP which received the diverted SMS messages is not on silent mode, the moment she gets an SMS, both her HP and your HP will beep with a "New Message" alert and when she sends out an SMS, your HP will also beep. If you are in near vicinity with her all day, she (or u in your case if u are the target) will get suspicious.
What I did was to buy a pre-paid card (unfamiliar number), pay all my gf's telephone bills and insert the SIM card into a simple low-end HP which I keep on silent mode either in my car or in the office. I stop my urge to see these messages whenever she sends or receive any SMS and will do so either at the end of the work day or at night or early in the morning when I review all the SMS by batch. I will get to see all her incoming and outgoing messages, whom she has send to (the number and the name of the sender) all in chronological order and I just download the SMS into a text file (or I delete them if I do not intend to use them to confront her).
I stop monitoring her SMS after abt a week (after 3 days, u will get a good idea what she is like). Once u have the power to peek into her SMS, it does give u a good understanding of what type of character she is. Eg: what type of info she will share with you (eg: tell u what her family or friends have correspond with her via SMS) and what she withhold. This would give a gauge of how open she is with you and the level of trust between u and the gal.
