IMO, objectively, Rio is a good defender but horribly overpriced and overpaid. I have not seen him bring the ball out of defence and score like Agger did.
Anyway this thing about classy defenders is over-rated. If forwards can lose the ball in attack, you can be sure a defender with the best ball skills will lose it 80% of the time. I'd much prefer a solid defender who reads the game well and is no-nonsense.  |
