Yes, that's true ... but I guess Rafa was just trying his darnednest to get back those money poured down the drain - in fact, in that light, shouldn't the manager of Lyon be obliged to buy him over at that price??
From another angle, Marseille also trying their luck ... they already know Cisse belong to the scrap pile in Rafa's books, plus now that they know "endless" American money is backing Rafa up, 8m can be a simple write-off ... that's why I think that 40m kitty is not gonna be a lot, unless Rafa remain shrewdly ruthless in his subsequent dealings.
