i think you misunderstood his point. He didn't said allowing others to walk over him. He is asking to accept the circumstances that you cannot change.
End of the day, you made your choice and assume the risk. There's no need to be so hard on yourself if things doesn't turn out your way.
The market force will determine the pricing and it is definitely positive to think that our puny community here can make a difference.
