PR formalities

a few questions. those with experiences please help.

after PR application approved, a letter from ICA asking my wife to go down for PR formalities. just to clarify a few details which i not too sure. tried to call ICA but i can't even go into the auto answer machine. maybe too many people calling or lines down:confused:

1) one of the document requested is valid passport with valid immigration pass. what is a immigration pass? is it the "white card"?

2) medical report. from the letter, it seen that only 2tests need to be done? X-ray for TB and HIV test. as my wife need to take time off from her work, how long does the medical examination result will be out? any clinic to recommend which have both tests espeically HIV rapid test so we can finish everything in a single day? any other test involve?

3) Re-entry permit. this document is to be apply and get on the same day?

4) applying of identity card. how long does it take? can get it on the same day?

5) after the PR formalities appointment any follow up to do? waiting for document? if there is how long does it take?

please kindly advice on the above questions as well as any additional information will be greatly appreciated. as we are short of time due to her work commitment(under contract), the planning might need to be a little precise.

thank you!

1) one of the document requested is valid passport with valid immigration pass. what is a immigration pass? is it the "white card"?

Ans: Bring your wife's travel document (passport) & her long term pass.

Ans: There shld be an address list attached to the medical report. There are several clinics that offer these 2 pre-requisite tests. Report will be out in 5 working days. You can request the report to be sent to you.

3) Re-entry permit. this document is to be apply and get on the same day?

Ans: You can get the re-entry permit on the same day. Should be $100 for the processing fees, valid for 5 years.

4) applying of identity card. how long does it take? can get it on the same day?

Ans: ICA will issue a official document slip. She has to collect in ICA after 7 working days for her blue ID is ready.

5) after the PR formalities appointment any follow up to do? waiting for document? if there is how long does it take?

Ans: See Qn #4.

Bring travel document, the medical report, herself, her recent passport size photographs and $$$.

Bro you are taking things for granted!
And of course you can't even go into the auto answer machine when you called ICA. Thats because ICA HATE to answer to whats going to be asked.
Let me remind you not to tell ICA that you are busy!!!
If the PR status is important to you, you will find the TIME to settle the issue even to lose some sleep or $$$.

If others can queue overnight for an iphone I don't see losing some sleep or $$$ for that PR status an issue!

with due respect, i still thank you for the words.

firstly, to do justice for ICA. they have been most helpful so far from my experience calling them. i give them a big "A" for that. just that sometimes due to high call volume which is expected, it is hard to get the call through. the auto answering machine is when you call their hotline and it will direct you to the correct department. i have not experience what you say. i ask mainly on procedures.

secondly on the time limitation issue. i don't think explaining will help myself or you in this case. no point trying to fulfill someone sense of justice online. there is always reasons behind decision and try not judge others base on a 1 line statement.

try flying every couple of months and tell me no time, effort, money and work won't be affected. for the record, i don't own a freaking airlines or a private jet.

just take it or leave it will you?

bro Schenker. thanks for the answer. after countless call to ICA finally got through. also by asking some of my PR colleagues and your advice manage to come out with an plan to settle everything within time frame.

the main issue is getting the medical report ready. after searching for hours online, i found an x-ray clinic that can come out with the result within 2days. i planned a couple of days allowance just incase.

just some information to share that might have changed now from your time:p

1) immigration pass = white card.

2) the letter sent no longer have any list of clinics attached to it. i asked a number of clinics and all of them provide these tests. average days needed for result is 3 full working days.

3) someone else can help to collect the IC once ready. but i think need to write some notice for it.

thanks again!!!

Calling ICA is nearly quite time consuming and frustrated. Sometimes I wonder whether one is calling Starhub instead? (they are using the same waiting tone)

If you live in the north side, I know there's one clinic @ AMK #422 ave 3 got a X-ray clinic and a clinic at one block offering for SPR/Work permit testing.

Once your wife is receiving the small little slip from ICA, you can fill up your particulars in that slip & signed by her, to collect her blue ID on her behalf. I collected the ID on my wife's behalf in 2006 also. No changes. ;)

thanks for the information! that the clinic i asked that can get ready the medical result for me on time!! it at blk 422 too. hahaha...

anyway, i think i praise ICA too early:( this morning just recieved email that my wife visa to singapore had been rejected. faint. called up ICA and was told to bring a few documents down for appeal. drop everything that i was doing and rash down with the documents. reached there and was told to wait for interview. upon entering the room, i told the interviewer what happened. she start asking me for other documents which i was not told to bring. all the documents she asked i had submitted before during PR application. i wonder why there is no link to share such information since they are under one roof. no choice. got to prepare everything tonight and rush down in the morning again:( i just wish they are more coordinated between department.

having the visa rejected was so unexpected. this is the fourth time i applying the visa for my wife. maybe it the frequency. anyway, after applying i got to wait for another 2weeks for approval according to the interviewer. the date to the interview i booked is drawing nearer. hope that everything will be fine.

She didn't stay with you and is in her country?

How come ICA reject her visa when her SPR is approved?

yes. she is not in singapore at the moment and is working in china. as mention, she have to finish her contract period with her company before she coming over at end of the year.

this morning rush down to ICA with the required document this time. reached around 7am to avoid the saturday crowd. waited for sometime before seeing my interviewer.

after checking through the record on her PC, she realise the reason for rejection this time is the previous VISA is valid for multiple journey and last for 2years:eek: faint. i told her the previous interviewer did not tell me about that and she was quite surprise. mention to me that she will remind her. anyway, i thanks her and left the room. just gald that the problem had been solved.

anyway, this visa issue is due to my own ignorant and the 1st interviewer did not checked properly. at least something i can share with others next time:o

Re: PR formalities

thanks for all the advice. especially to Schenker.

manage to settle everything. overall, i still consider the whole process to be rather smooth although there are quite a number of wasted journey to ICA and some unnecessary spending. still there is no way i can know everything before going through the whole process anyway:p

for those that is going to or applying PR for your love ones, good luck:)

the whole thing took 6months although much longer if consider the time taken to prepare all the documents especially back in her mother land where the process is complicated and lengthy.
