Low tables only in garden/pool area. Regular height tables in main restaurant area. CharYen, affirmative on sand/pool (as mentioned by charmaine)

Or you could try go to Tawan Dang (german brewery place) at param 3. Family friendly if you go early like from 6pm, with classical thai music and silly stage acts. Decent food (thai and german pork knuckles, sausages) and great freshly brewed beer for your prospective fil. Gives you time to get out ard 930pm before more contemporary live music takes over. Been there and done it (with my bkk side dish's family last month):D Here's the weblink

they are sometimes available in the local food shops. never tried looking for these at the stall (push-cart type).

but as long as you see seafood displayed outside, they have it.

but for me, sometimes i will just get the motorsai guy near my condo to go buy for me from the nearby nightclub. but that was when i was staying at pinklao last year. now i moved to ratchada, i just walk to talat huay kwang and chill..

Yeah, I live on Ratchada as well, and just drop by Hway Kwang for all of that. The little joint just opposite the police station if you turn into Hway Kwang from the same soi as Palazzo (it'll be on your right, with station on left) is not bad, and closes really late as well. Think I was there once at 4.30am and it was still open.

lots of puyings go there for supper in the late morning or after work ...
turn right after u step out of palazzo hotel .... walk all the way to the end, pass by the ex-mirage massage ... and turn right ...
should be abt 10 minutes walk ...
if u r drunk ... it will take hours .... :D
