I am flying in to bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport on the 13th/04/2014 after 5pm (first time in thailand) for 11 days and i releaize that it is Songkran there during this time (first few days). It seems i can get a pre paid sim and the money exchanged at the airport.

I have few questions :

Is it better to split the time between Pattaya (sunday to thursday) and Bangkok (thursday to follow thursday) or stay in bangkok only at this time during this time?

I have read before that lot of girls go on holidays during Songkran and not sure what will be open during this time?

Any issues in getting taxi to pattaya during this time from the airport?

any advice would be much appricate. thanks

You are fucked! Going to Thailand for Songkran is not your ordinary cheongster trip. You should have done more homework! On this note ; my advise to all cheongster is to check dates before buying tickets. Local elections , religious holidays can contribute to closures or non alcohol sales ; resulting in charbos going back kampong or just sleep in loom.

Back to Songkran - the girls will be out to have fun. Like CNY , some go home some stay. EVERYONE will be in party mood so the regular barfine/lady drink/fuck system will be all screwed up! This is not saying its not available .... just different. Imagine CNY for us .... business as usual for some , some just wanna have fun.........

I had a friend who hooked up a gorgeous babe in a Beerbar. Only in the morning did she tell my friend she actually works in a agogo on walking street and was at the BB for water splashing. She even charged below market price for her gogo!

Biggest problem for you will be the travelling. Plan wrongly and you will be stuck in traffic for hours. A normal 2hr Bkk-Pattaya trip can be up to 8-10hrs if you travel on 19th. Vice versa on 19th evening or nite. This is coz Pattaya closes Beach road and the locals come from Bangkok to party in the world's biggest water fight.

I would advise you to hit Bangkok before Pattaya especially if you're a gogo guy. Walking Street alone is Nana+Cowboy+Patong x 2! Fun factor is also higher. If you go Pattaya before Bangkok , you'll be sitting in a dull agogo nursing a beer wishing you were back in Peppermint! 5555555

If you're a massage guy , stay in Bangkok.

Read up on the past posts by the many helpful bros here.

Songkran = CNY... use your imagination of CNY in China then u will know what is happening in Thailand.

thanks for the reply/ advice.

I didn't have much choice on the dates. I should stay in bangkok at least for the first few days until the songkran is over.

Kawaii bar can go and just drink. Pressure from girls to go or buy drinks just like any other bar in Pattaya. You control your own mouth to say yes or no. Read the earlier post on prices ; its all subjective and relative.

Part of puyings TOR to ask for LDs, if not, give customers impression she BA (bad attitude).... so really subjective, just learn to be think skin....

I always tell puyings, don't ask and I will offer..... save my fugly face from embarrassment.....:p

Pattaya sees drop in 2014 tourists to 7m

Report from The Nation (Thailand) dated 12 March 2014 :-

Pattaya sees drop in 2014 tourists to 7m

THAILAND - The number of tourists, both local and foreign, visiting Pattaya is now projected to drop to 7.5 million this year from 9 million last year because of the prolonged political turmoil.

Tourism revenue in the city is forecast to decline to Bt70 billion (S$27 billion) this year from Bt85 billion in 2013.

Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome said yesterday that it was difficult to raise hopes high on tourist numbers at this time of uncertainty.

The old projection was to match last year's tourist numbers, but the escalating political scenario led to the downward revision.

In a peaceful situation, arrivals from local and foreign markets should reach 10 million.

About 70 per cent are foreign. This quarter has seen a loss of 30 per cent in arrivals from 3.5 million a year ago and 30 per in cent in tourism revenue from Bt35 billion.

Pattaya has suffered from the political tension in Bangkok because the resort city is combined in tour packages for foreigners with the capital.

Many foreigners chose to enjoy shopping and sightseeing at the Grand Palace in Bangkok before heading to Pattaya to relax with sunbathing or sea activities.

This group has disappeared, especially Chinese.During Chinese New Year, for example, inbound operators expected to receive 300 tour groups from China, but handled only 60.

The major problem was that they were worried about travel insurance, which does not cover political chaos.

Occupancy remains good, averaging 80 per cent on weekends, thanks to local seminars that moved from Bangkok after it was hit by political demonstrations.

However, the city has to deal with price-cutting by unregistered hotels offering accommodation for Bt1,200-Bt1,500 a night.

To revitalise the city, the administration will focus more on local tourists to offset the missing foreigners.

Thai tourists are targeted to increase to 40 per cent of the total this year.

Activities are being planned to attract them.

One of the highlights is the 13th Pattaya Music Festival, which will be held from March 21-23.

The three days are hoped to bring in more than 350,000 travellers and almost Bt700 million in spending.

The festival will showcase more than 90 music bands, mainly local ones, playing on six stages.

Bands from such places as South Korea, Singapore, Hong Kong and Japan have not confirmed their participation, partly out of fear of the political hostilities.

So many sg bros (Msia also welcome la!) why not bro Kawaii write on a white board who's in town and till when so everyone will know mah?

So whenever we go Pattaya ; Kawaii bar is a must go to looksee looksee. One condition is must buy one drink for our bros (or sis) at Kawaii or Goodfellas.

Abang - good idea for you also. Last time before LK Metro exploded , MASH , Office and Submarine was owned by the same group. They offered a 1for1 first drink coupon at the other gogos whenever I drank at one of the them. This way ; being the jiu kui I am , discovered their other gogos and I've dropped more than a few thousand bahts into the owner's pockets thru the years!
