I do that all the time. Simply hop onto an upriding escalator and hail one from the departure hall.. 50 baht isn't a lot of money to be taking cheap pot shots like these I know but strangely I feel good doing it. Must be a Singaporean thing. :D

I once booked for a US$120 BMW 7 series limo provided by the hotel for a 30 minute ride into Silom. I was young, silly, and too eager to impress my ex girlfriend who, ironically, had driven to the airport to pick me up as a surprise. Who's the loser, dear brother? :)

SOP: Q at taxi stand (outside arrival hall) for public taxi. Try AVOID illegal taxis trying to get your attention (across the lane).

Only if you are deterred by long Q, and minus patience (like me):
> Go up to departure level floor
> Go to either end, cross to next lane (where taxis dis-embark passengers)
> Quite a few taxis "Q" after dropping off passengers (not supposed to). Cabbies mutually interested to save hassle, so just get in
Saloon cars can be had for bt600 on lean days (just ask "discount".. nothing to lose). Or hotel transfer pricing, and plus side get to welcome you in placard hehehe:D

On tollway thingy, I have been lucky with a few good cabbies who actually got me to Suk on regular roads under 30mins. Saved 2 usual tolls bt25 + 35 = bt60 (affording me to round up or tip him for good job done). Tollways not always fool proof (on arriving) in peak hours. Kena suay2 few times bottleneck exit tollway near soi 0.

Never took taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport before. Always took the public bus costing around THB34 only. LOL.

actually cheaper, but because of golf bag, have to pay a bit more :mad:to get onto public bus..... terminal to terminal, cannot afford to drop half way... if I remember correctly, 20+bahts onli..... if beautiful conductress, chee koh humsup ah pek sure pay limo price......:p

nowadays, wouldn't have such problems.... will drive to BKK anytime.:)

Come out of the arrival go to the last stand on the arrival hall and take a taxi, to Rachada area not more than 300 bahts + (50bahts) for the service charges.

They will turn on the meter and pay accordingly plus another 50 bahts!

Toll way another 25 bahts....! Don't take the limo as they are much more than 300 bahts!:D

Took the airport bus twice. 1st time from airport. Got Spore couple, most prob misscomm with bus people. Driver drop them at Pratunam kao mun gai told them "walking distance" to their hotel, Century Park! When I overheard... tell them join me for lunch 1st (supposedly one of the best) b4 catchin a cab or tuk tuk. 2nd time also got time kill b4 pick up friend. Caught bus outside Central World. Bus meandered its way thru Sukhumvit & outskirts... ended up bus sick!

Usually me just join taxi Q 2 save hassle. Cheaper than Sillypore & even Thais are doing it!. Not necessary cabs at arrival hall will not charge u the BHT50 surcharge - kanna a few trying their luck. Airport to Sukhumvit, Siam Sq or Rachada areas shld be not more than BHT400 (tollway BHT70+surcharge BHT50+tips, which I usually round up the fare).
