Sources: David Moyes set to be sacked
Newspapers including the Daily Telegraph, the Daily Mail and The Guardian all reported on Monday that the former Everton boss is set to lose his job after the 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park on Sunday.

United did not deny the reports when contacted by ESPN FC, and senior officials at the club later said privately that the sacking is “imminent.”

Will go out and celebrate if moyes really get sack!

As for giggs i think he will be there just to cover the last 4 games for utd and after the season end time for shopping and look for a world class manager

What can Giggs do sia?
Has he even got his coaching badges?
:D

giggs has gotten all his coaching badges. at least he should command more respect from the players at united. he has seen it all and won it all in english football.
what he lacks is coaching experience. but what the heck, can he do any worse than DM? at least if he is in charge for the last 4 games, we can expect united to be playing to some form of attacking soccer that they are capable of and not the way they are playing - without any spirit at all.

won't celebrate but will heave a sigh of relief if DM really goes.
i hope they go for klopp, van gaal or even ancellotti.
all 3 managers send out teams that play fast, attacking and attractive football. not the dull, spiritless games that the current team churns out now.

Seems to me Van Gaal is the most likely one to come & take over at our beloved club...very excited abt him ! :)...hmm keeping my fingers cross, hopes he really takes over...it will definitely be a totally different United frm the one under Moyes...

it does seems very likely that van Gaal would be the one now. he is set to leave his job as holland coach after the world cup in june.

as for the rest of the names in the wish list : klopp has declared he can't leave dortmund. guardiola wants to stay at bayern for the moment. simeone may not be suitable as he may have a language problem.

so, best scenario would be to appoint 62 year old van Gaal for a "short" term of 3 to 4 years and then tap guardiola when he is ready to leave bayern. he has mentioned that he would like to coach in the premier league one day. he should be our long-term target.

really wonder why sir alex didnt ask guardiola to take over his hot seat when they met up in new york before bayern approached him. is it really a case of guardiola not understanding sir alex's scottish accent or that sir alex at the point of time, had yet to decide to retire? :)

I recall reading somewhere that Fergie was very surprised Guardiola had chosen to sign on at Munich when he did so while on sabbatical in NY. Get the feeling that Guardiola was not that keen on signing on at ManU, although saying that think he was even more against signing on at both ManCity and Chelsea who appeared to have chased after him too aggressively for his liking.

Mourinho on the otherhand appeared to be very keen to sign on at ManU and think he was disappointed that ManU did not select him. As a Liverpool supporter, I have to say I am happy ManU declined to sign Mourinho, because if Mourinho was at Old T instead of Moyes, I should think we would have seen a totally different ManU team performance this season, probably still fighting for both the BPL and CL or at least one of the two.

Personally can't stand Mourinho, but you have to respect him as he is a winner. Actually think he is very much similar to Fergie.

Anyway, don't like to say this, as a Reds fan, but I think ManU shall be back much stronger next season, subject to a reasonably good managerial appointment. I don't think Red Devils fans need worry about history repeating itself, like what happened after Busby retired. ManU is now an even much larger football club and the dynamics of the English league and European club competitions have totally changed.

Well same as a utd fan,as much as i hate to admit i think liverpool will be taking the title for this season! Cos among the team fighting for it now,i think liverpool players all very determine to win the title this year, their passion and hardwork deserved to be where their standing is

And for SG i think it would be great for him to win the epl title as capt for liverpool

Playing the devil's advocate here - don't be too excited about Van Gaal. He's had spectacular success, as well as failures in his managerial career. Second spell at Barca was crap, fell out with players at Bayern after a successful first season, first spell as Holland coach also ended up not qualifying for WC. But one thing is for sure if he is appointed - fireworks on AND off the field...

Re: Manchester United's Headliners, Articles and Rumours

The big challenge for a club the stature of Manchester United was not showing David Moyes the door. The challenge is making a discerning decision with reagrds of filling the void seat. ;)

For a gentlemen who earned his coaching badges at the age of 22, Moyes clearly lacked the global experience to influence and escort the club forward. However, the players need to man up and take responsibility.

Pierre.
