Good substitute is Tawandaeng param 3 and raminthra (former has better shows). Thais and cabbies call it german long beer (euphemism for tower beer?). Seems their sinkie branch is now open at Dempsey. May get my kakis over, hopefully my fave thai female singer realise her transfer request from raminthra 555.

(In Chronological Order)
1) Phuture Disco (Chaophya Park Hotel at Ratchadapisek. Later renamed to Twenty Club)
5) Orbit (Later renamed to Soprano House)
6) Bombay Bar and pubs in Liberty Plaza (Thonglor)
Ex Phuture aka Twenty was peng mak, when I stayed in Chaophya Park 4 years back. Beat hasty retreat, as my pockets not deep... got holes.
Frequented only once for both these 2 spots: Orbit in suk (bit posey style, if you know what I mean), hip place. Bombay Bar in LP, cater to young thai crowd. Felt out of place, suit more for you hot shots here:p Was at stylo restaurant nearby "To Die for", known hangout for celebrities -with deep settees in garden patio etc.

some makan places..
 
Just to contribute some local makan places, during my this trip to krung thep:

1. Good, cheap thai/viet food at Lat Prao soi 101.
Cannot read thai name, tel 02 538 7598/90. Open 1000-2230 daily, very popular with thais. Big, longish kopitiam with aircon seating inside. Not far from Mall. Good sausages, spring rolls with leafy salad to wrap. Only missing is my phor (beef noodles in clear soup). Bastardised with thai influence. Bring your whisky, no corkage. Food good for 3 pax + water mixers + 3 meatrolls takeaway costs only bht750.

2. Thai/chinese food below Thonglor BTS -Kuang Pochana
999-1001 Suk stretch, tel 02 392 5237. Open to late, cater to night supper crowd like clubbers etc. Open air few tables outside, with ac inside. Fri night, fish + fresh oysters + 2 dishes + small btl thai Regency brandy bht1060. If minus Regency bht240, bht800.

3. Big seafood garden, with live music, next to lakeside (near airport). Thai name alien to me. tel 02 2738 48112. Can see big lights towards/from airport. Nice ambience, alfresco style. Fish + spicy pork dish + 2 vege costs bht750. Promo whisky 0.7lit (not JW) at bht850. Sat night kena washout byb thunderstorm, so boss gave patrons 15% discount (only those who tried to make big escape from half consumed bill).

Last night unexpected quicky .. beer bar at the entrance to Soi 22, barfine 400 baht (which is pushing it a bit), girl 1000 ST, she took me to her apartment which was on my way home, no rush, very pleasant .. she's 22, cute face. Just a note not to forget that there's life beyond the gogos and massages ..

hahaha...you know I cheong Viet..yes..meet a lot of samster there too.

Too bad tis is a rush trip and no time to do research..worst is I stay hotel PCC..hehehehehe..

hahaha ... liddat ur PCC is expensive leow ...becoz u fly all the way to bkk to PCC .... :D

u can take the BTS and alight at Ashoke station to get to Soi Cowboy ...
or alight at NANA station to get to NEP ....
or alternatively ... u can walk along sukhumvit road from soi 2 to 12 ..
lots of puyings on the street for u to hook up ...

Surprises never cease eh? Even if your sentimental bit can be excused. Maybe I was too close to comfort, staying directly across soi 29 Legacy. But I was doing my own thing with my tg side dish, like watching her fave DVD Wali-E in between sips thai Regency cognac. My patience paid off:p

Is Titanium in neighborhood worth a go? Know an ex FB who started to haunt there after leaving her base at Spassos (and ex Rivas if I may add). Hear there's some ice bar upstairs too. Not my league, she and her likes target farangs usually on expense account. :D

No doubt life is much more than cheonging. But when you start to dabble in the matters of the heart. Be prepared for some heartaches along the way.

If you can make through the Vietnam cheong scene. BKK is a piece of cake even without research! :D As what CASH KING has mentioned. All you need to do is to drop off at Huai Khwang MRT and Nana BTS. Then just explore around.
