Re: Pattaya

From my earlier posting.

You can also take Pattaya Van at BTS Victory Monument, just below the station. I find it cheaper at 97 bahts and convenience to travel from Bangkok to Pattaya and back if I'm not going direct from airport by Bell Travel (door to door service).

Just click Routes & Schedules to view the map.

Bf as stated above is usually 1200bht instead of 600bht during songkran. but not sure if this is for e whole of the holidays or part there of. LT and ST are up to the gals but generally there will not be much of an increase in these rates. again..i may be wrong.

Ok! Noted n thanks!

Re: Pattaya

I always thought central pattaya is where central road roughly Hard Rock to soi7/8.

North pattaya is soi 2/3 and dolphin roundabout and towards Naklua.

South pattaya is soi 7/8 and walking street towards jomtien.

You would be correct if you go by the map. But if you are talking to the locals, then to them Central Pattaya is where South Pattaya road is. South Pattaya is where Buddha Hill is. When in Rome, do as the Romans do... or you will get lost if asking for directions from a local :p

Pattaya high-speed link on track for 2018

Report from Bangkok Post dated 12 March 2013 :-

Pattaya high-speed link on track for 2018

The government is aiming to complete the country's first high-speed train between Bangkok and Pattaya by 2018.

Three other lines linking the capital with Phitsanulok, Nakhon Ratchasima and Hua Hin are also scheduled to be completed the following year.

The planned four high-speed rail routes are part of infrastructure projects under the 2-trillion-baht borrowing plan to be tabled before the cabinet for its approval next Tuesday.

Barring any problems, the bill will be forwarded to parliament by the end of this month for final approval, with a target to complete all projects in seven years.

Other key projects to be financed with borrowing under the bill include 10 mass transit projects, dual track railways and road projects which have undergone environmental impact analyse

I will need to take the complete journey, soak in the reality for 3 days, take another journey on the train itself, then maybe believe it!

Remember how long it took for Airport-Makkasan to be a reality?
