Airports of Thailand (AOT) acting president Serirat Pasutanond said Suvarnabhumi airport could resume operation in about a week once the anti-government protesters led by the People’s Alliance for Democracy (PAD) leave the airport.

Mr Serirat expected it would take authorities approximately seven days to check the readiness of Suvarnabhumi once the protesters leave.

Flights are still going into Phuket and Pattaya so there is an option. I am thinking of flying to Pattaya if the free hotel stays and 2k Baht a day offers are true!

Re : the airport - it could take a week for the airport to restart flights but the damage to the reputation of thailand will go on for years. Hopefully it wont be like the tsunami as everything in phuket was more expensive after they rebuilt the damage.

KNN even with this still PAD doesnt want to give in...Following the verdict on party disbandment, Somsak said the PAD would not allow the Cabinet to work in the caretaker capacity until the formation of the next government.

He said every minister must depart along with Prime Minister Somchai Wongsawat.

PPP may be the ultimate winner in the end when the dust settle cus with the Global recession looming and the Thailand economy certaining doom after this incident, watever makeshift government PAD or anyone else could conjure within such a short period which is bound to fail to take on such a massive task to try restore not only their own already failed economy but also against the global recession would be tough to say the least...

and by then probably u could see Thaksin would ride in on his shiny armour n white horse and once again take the country by storm....and then the beat goes on...

the bkk court ruling is really a joke ....
thailand really make a monkey out of themselves ...

The unrest continued to take a heavy toll on the 350,000 travellers stranded in Thailand by the crisis, with three tourists including two Canadians dying in road accidents as they tried to flee the "Land of Smiles."

A Hong Kong national was also killed -- in the same accident, according to some reports.

Latest, a bit hope for me now..... :D

"I think that Suvarnabhumi Airport will be able to be re-opened within 24 hours," he said. Referring to checkpoints set up by PAD at the entrances of the airport, AOT and PAD will jointly conduct the screening of passengers into the airport.

"First priority of the work is to clean all the passengers' buildings and to remove tones of garbages from the areas," he said.

Meanwhile an informed source said AOT told PAD that the airport should be resumed the service on December 3.

Cargo planes Tuesday resumed their services from Suvarnabhumi International Airport.

The services resumed at 9am.

"The protest has caused grave damage to the country and we're trying every means to clear the airport," Airports of Thailand Acting President Serirat Prasutanond said Tuesday.

win win for ALL thais? i doubt so...the elites might have won but the neutral and the poor will suffer due to the impact caused and the drop in tourism, job cuts etc and till date the country's main airport alone has lost more Bt350 million due to the closure of the protesters.
